The Foundation for Intercultural Exchange is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization created in 2015 with the objective to support access to education abroad opportunities for all students through grants and scholarships, to expand the service-learning pedagogy in study abroad settings, as well as to further research and scholarship in the fields of linguistics and intercultural competence development.
The Foundation for Intercultural Exchange is the concrete outcome of a long-time collaboration among a number of partners operating under the name The International Center for Intercultural Exchange. The partners of the International Center share a common ideology regarding higher education abroad and international service-learning. Since 2005, partners have dedicated efforts to the development of exchange opportunities, publications and research on international service-learning and intercultural education as well as a conference series called Intercultural Horizons, bringing together academics and practitioners from all over the world.
